Connecting an e-shop to an ERP is often briefed as “a technical task for a developer”. In reality it is a process project — technology comes second.
1. Starting with technology instead of process
First map how orders, stock and invoices flow today — and how they should flow tomorrow.
2. No clear “source of truth”
Where is the master for products, prices and stock? Without a clear answer, sync starts overwriting data.
3. One-way sync
Pushing orders into the ERP is not enough. Statuses, stock and documents must flow back.
4. No acceptance criteria
Without them you can’t verify the vendor delivered what you actually needed.
5. Nobody owns the whole
The e-shop, the ERP partner and the developer each handle their piece. Someone must own the outcome.
